The International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC), is pleased to announce the appointment of Sébastien Praud as a new Board member of the organization.
Following the January 2016 announcement of the production of a whole genome assembly for bread wheat, the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC), having completed quality control, is now making this breakthrough resource available for researchers via the IWGSC wheat sequence repository at URGI-INRA-Versailles, France .
A high quality bread wheat reference sequence will be available in less than two years
German teams to sequence two wheat chromosomes
Grégoire Berthe was awarded on 16 November an IWGSC Outstanding Leadership Award in recognition of his continuous support to the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC) over the last 10 years. He received his award at the International Wheat Innovation Workshop in Clermont-Ferrand (France), organized by the BreedWheat project.
The International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC) announced today that it has started a new project to speed up gene discovery in bread wheat. It will provide plant breeders around the world with essential resources to accelerate their breeding programs and develop more sustainable wheat varieties with increased tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses.
Wheat farmers have reason to celebrate, as the Canadian Triticum Applied Genomics (CTAG2) project is about to step up its contribution to the global effort to decipher the wheat genome, led by the International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC). The expected outcome is a new generation of wheat cultivars with higher yields and better resistance to stresses.
The International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC) and the Wheat Initiative announced today that funding was secured in Turkey for reference sequencing of wheat chromosome 5D. This is another step towards achievement of a high quality reference sequence for each of the 21 bread wheat chromosomes in order to provide plant breeders with high quality tools to accelerate breeding programs and produce a new generation of wheat varieties with higher yields and improved sustainability.
Sequencing of wheat chromosome 4B to begin
The International Wheat Genome Sequencing Consortium (IWGSC) announced today that it has completed high quality physical maps for 6 additional wheat chromosome arms. This major achievement on the path towards a high quality reference sequence of the bread wheat genome will provide invaluable tools to speed up breeding of new wheat varieties.
