Abstract Call IWGSC Workshops at PAG 2023

Call for abstracts - IWGSC Workshops at PAG 2023

Abstract submission is now CLOSED - Abstracts for proposed talks are now being accepted by the IWGSC for individuals who would like to present their work at one of the IWGSC workshops that will be held at the Plant and Animal Genome Conference 30 (13-18 January 2023, San Diego, CA, USA).

Deadline: 21 September 2022, 23:59 US Eastern Time. CLOSED

PAG organizers have informed us that all sessions will take place at the Town & Country Resort and that all presenters must attend in person, there is no virtual option.

The IWGSC will organize two workshops

  • Main Workshop on Saturday 14 January 2023, 8:00-10:10 am.
  • IWGSC – From Structural to Functional Wheat Genomics Workshop, likely to be held on Tuesday 17 January2023, 1:30-3:40 pm.

The wheat reference genome sequence (IWGSC RefSeq v1.0 & v2.1) has provided a foundation that has propelled recent advances in research and improvement of wheat.

Abstracts submitted for presentations at the Main Workshop should focus on work related to the development or utilization of wheat genomic resources. We are especially interested in significant advancements in wheat research, fundamental and applied, due to the availability or development of genomic tools and resources.

For the Structural and Functional Genomics Workshop, continued advances in research and understanding will require new experimental and computational approaches to structurally identify and assign function to genes (both coding and non-coding) as well as regulatory elements and epigenetic states. Accordingly, abstracts submitted for this workshop should focus on genome-scale studies that improve understanding of wheat genome function through the development of additional data resources, computational and experimental studies, exploration of gene families and pathways, and platforms that facilitate annotation and visualization.

Please note that the PAG organizers are enforcing several rules to ensure diversity of speakers at the various workshops. These include prohibitions on an individual giving the same or a highly similar talk in more than one PAG workshop or giving the same or highly similar talk in the same workshop as given the prior year. We will work with the organizers to enforce this rule and are setting an early deadline for abstract submissions to assist in this effort.

If you are interested in giving a presentation at one of the IWGSC workshops, please submit your abstract (up to 250 words) by 21 September 2022, 23:59 US Eastern Time.

New this year: we are using an online platform to streamline the abstract submission and review. To submit your abstract:
